John & Lori Gash

Woohoo! What a ride! What a joy it is for Lori and I to serve God and others in this adventure of FaithQuest. Not a day passes that we are not just amazed, humbled, and so thankful for all of His goodness in our lives. We know it is all for reasons and purposes bigger than we can imagine, and that is pretty exciting because we have already seen God do so much. Thanks for just being interested enough to check out these pages, which suggests to us that you too are in the midst of God’s unfolding story for your life and and more faith adventures of your own! We don’t put too much into the idea of coincidences, but rather believe that our great God working in the providential and strange way that He does, has something in mind as our stories find themselves overlapping today. Will be cool to together see what happens next!

If you are wanting to know more on our personal story, here are the basics: Lori and I met and begin dating when we were both 16 and at Mission Viejo High School, finding love and load of laughter with each other these last 35 years. The truth is that we are so happy together it is embarrassing to talk about! We are also crazy-thankful to have 3 children married to 3 wonderful spouses that all live minutes from our home. We love being Papa and Grammy to a growing clan of grandkids, currently numbering 6. Our priorities include our personal lives with Jesus, each other in our marriage, our family, friends, and of course this ministry work God has called us to. To relax we enjoy being with family and friends and running, hiking, biking, and laughing as much as we can.

In ministry we love to be with people and their churches who are open to taking chances. We believe that love, faith, God’s word, prayer, and action, together change everything.

I was in business for 23 years, most of that time operating a Christian-based Financial Planning and Advisory practice. We had a lot of years of success, and then a bewildering period of change…where was God and what in the world was He doing? Today I see how God providentially allowed things into my life that shifted the whole course of my life and work. I remember my pastor at the time, Denny Bellesi encouraged me when He said ”When God closes a door, He opens a window, but sometimes it is hell in the hallways!” We could dig into the theology of these words, but at the time they gave me hope and faith that carried me through and led me eventually to go on a mission trip to Africa in early 2002. I went at the last minute because I was told by Dan Gillespie from Miqlat Ministries that he has been praying for many months a guy with my specific background to go with him to work with him on obtaining a property for a Christian Camp in Africa for the poor. He asked me at a moment that seemed to be the first time in 23 years I had the availability to go on such a trip…I was out of excuses.

Within 2 hours after the plane landed in Africa 10 days later, I got a strong sense that my other life was over, and that God had a new calling for me. In the days and weeks that followed, all I can say is that God revealed His transformational love and power to me in such exciting ways that I had no choice but to drop everything else and charge into introducing people and their churches what I had experienced. I went back to Africa with Dan and 52 people from 17 churches in the summer of 2002, and have been taking people and their churches to places around the world ever since. Our common vision is to to be a catalyst to mobilize people and their churches to put their faith into action, especially in regards to the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. We have enjoyed connections with more than 50 churches in the USA and with a number of great global ministry partners in a number of countries and the USA. Lori has joined me fully as both one of FaithQuest’s biggest supporters with her hair business, but also in running all the back office and accounting and joining or leading trips whenever she can. We are beyond thankful to have the chance to serve God together in full-time ministry like this.

We invite you to join us as friends and fellow faith adventurers! Join us in praying for and taking action for reaching God’s church here in the USA and the lost of the world, the poor, hungry, thirsty, sick, widowed, and orphaned. Join us in saying for yourself “Here am I Lord, send Me” and join us on a trip to serve and help the lost find a way home to their Great Dad. Join us in faith as our ministry partners too, as God leads, helping with the finances needed to keep all this moving forward. Most importantly, join us in loving God with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength, knowing He will take care of the rest! – Your Fellow Servants, John & Lori
