Many would argue that Hume Lake Christian Camps in Sequoia National Park in central California is the greatest place on earth. The overwhelming majority of those people are those that have had their life forever rocked and changed by the amazing experience of meeting God as youth in that place…either that or the because of the mind-blowing shakes at the snack shop. Hume Lake Christian Camps has been putting on relevant, fun, transformational Christian camping program since 1946 and has a reputation of being the premier Christian Camp in the nation. Today they are seeing, on average, 18,000 kids attend their camps each summer.
One of those kids that attended Hume Lake, found Christ and was forever changed was John Gash, founder and president of FaithQuest Missions. Hume has held a very special place in his heart for his entire life. So when the new President of Hume Lake, Michael Anthony (who had come on a trip with FaithQuest Missions previously) saw FaithQuest Missions at a college missions fair, God set in motion a miraculous connection that we strongly believe He has divinely been preparing for John’s entire life.
Michael Anthony and the Hume Lake executive staff are moving with faith and fervor toward drastically building and expanding upon Hume International Ministries. They see God’s hand over Hume and the good will that the camps have with thousands of churches as a blessing that ought to be used to Glorify God by reaching the world for Christ. They have asked FaithQuest Missions to join them in formulating vision and serve as the primary mobilization agency for Hume International. What this means is that Hume Lake and FaithQuest Missions will be organizing Mission trips under the banner of Hume Lake International that will be presented to campers, youth pastors, Hume Lake staff and their entire of network of churches. The hope is that churches can be mobilized in great numbers all over the world and ultimately that lives and churches will be transformed.
We are absolutely exhilarated to be working with Hume Lake Christian Camps and at the same time, extremely humbled. God is certainly good! The potential for this partnership and this movement is extraordinary and we are buckling up to see God do huge, epic things!
